After completing his art studies at the prestigious University of Tokyo, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto became co-founder of the GAINAX animation studio, where he went on to work as an official designer on a number of manga and anime, including “Neogenesis Evangelion”, a work that was personally in charge of its adaptation to the manga.

In recent years he has been involved in the new work of “Rebuild of Evangelion”, a tetralogy of films directed by his partner in GAINAX Hideaki Anno.

As a curiosity, another of his most notable and unknown works was the illustration he made for the cover of the album “Pilgrim” by British musician Eric Clapton.
